The Philippine Association of Food Technologists – Alpha Chapter is the leading food technology student organization from the University of the Philippines – Diliman, dedicated to promoting the advancement and development of food science and technology. PAFT-Alpha is the first student chapter of the Philippine Association of Food Technologists Incorporated and hosts innovative, relevant, and service-driven programs that cater to the needs of the Filipino family.
From March to May, PAFT-Alpha is celebrating its 59th anniversary with “Konbini,” an event series aimed at spreading knowledge on food science and technology to various sectors of Philippine society. This celebration features five major flagship events:
- AKERU (March 8): A donation drive and outreach event providing hygiene kits to the Correctional Institution for Women – Mandaluyong.
- DONBURI (April 7): A premier food technology quiz bee and laboratory tour that gathers high school teams nationwide to showcase their expertise in food safety, food science, and food innovation.
- BENTO (April 26): A highly anticipated seminar and symposium featuring industry experts sharing insights on topics relevant to food science and technology.
- GACHAPON (May 7-8): The organization’s first-ever bazaar, highlighting products from various Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
- ANMITSU: The anniversary dinner, bringing together members and alumni to cap off the celebration.
