This event continues to cement Kia as a sustainable mobility solutions provider showcasing a portion of its impressive lineup of market-ready and concept EVs in Taiwan.ย
Continuing the momentum from its rebrand in 2021 โ with a new minimalist logo and looking to inspire the EV revolution, the 2024 Kia EV Day at Asia Pacific highlighted Kiaโs newest electric models and groundbreaking technologies, reinforcing its position as an EV-centric brand for everyone. The event was anchored by the first-ever showcase in Asia Pacific of the Kia EV3, which will be launched in selected Asia Pacific countries in 2025, and the new Concept PV5. The highlight of the event was a closer look at the Kia EV3 which brings the innovative technology of the flagship EV9 SUV to set new standards in the compact EV SUV segment. Designed with all the innovation and technology of the previous Kia EVs the EV3 is primed to tap into the demand for an entry-level compact EV SUV.ย
The EV3 is slated to go on sale in the selected Asia Pacific countries come 2025 and is aimed at enhancing EV accessibility accelerating Kiaโs transition into a sustainable mobility solution provided. Adopting the โOpposites Unitedโ design philosophy, Kiaโs EV3 features boxy rear fenders, a sloping roofline as well as a robust stance delivering a modern sporty design that is sure to appeal.ย ย
Embodying the latest in Kiaโs driving technology, the EV3 is built on the E-GMP (Electric Global Modular Platform and features Electric Dynamic Torque Vectoring Control (eDTVC) for optimum traction on the move. The vehicle also includes a variety of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) including Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist 2, Lane Keeping Assist, Highway Driving Assist 2, Reverse Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist, and Remote Smart Parking Assist.ย ย
However, the 2024 Kia EV Day at Asia Pacific was also about the EVs of tomorrow with Kia showing off their Concept EV4 and for the first time in the region, the Concept PV5. The Concept EV4 represents the purity of the โPower to Progressโ pillar of the โOpposites Unitedโ design philosophy. It merges earth-inspired aesthetics with cutting-edge technology to present a striking silhouette with a spacious driver-centric design delivering modern luxury and an entirely new type of EV sedan.ย
The PV5 Concept, is Kiaโs first dedicated Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV), a concept that goes beyond traditional vehicles to provide a total mobility solution that incorporates the ultimate in spatiality and software technology. Designed with diversity in mind – from business to adventure, the PV5 sports a robust and simple design focused on delivering a customizable model tailormade to be multipurpose whether it is ride-hailing, logistics, or personal lifestyle activities.ย
Also on display was the flagship Kia EV9 was also on showcase during the 2024 Kia EV Day at Asia Pacific. The EV9 has garnered worldwide recognition and accolades including the Supreme Winner of the 2024 Womenโs Worldwide Car of the Year and wins at the 2024 World Car Awards.
In addition to unveiling new models, Kia emphasized their goal of introducing a full lineup of EVs at various price points. To supplement this, Kia also plans to expand its range of Hybrid EVs and PBVs whilst balancing these offerings with a core of internal combustion engine vehicles for emerging markets. Kia also intends to stabilize its EV production and battery supply system by operating 6 global EV productionย basesย byย 2025.
Through these strategies aimed at accelerating the popularization of EVs, Kia aims to sell 1.6 million EVs annually by 2030.
