The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) awarded the top tax-paying Filipino celebrities in 2022 in a special program in Quezon City on Wednesday, March 8. The program kicks off the government agency’s tax campaign season, The Manila Times reported. And turning up at the event to personally receive their respective awards are celebrity couple Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla (KathNiel), Anne Curtis, and Willie Revillame.
“Maraming maraming salamat sa award na ito at maraming-maraming salamat sa dami ng binayaran namin tax,” Padilla jokingly said in his speech. Bernardo, on the other hand, emphasized how big of a deal this is for them. As an influential personality, she hopes that “this will inspire everybody to do our responsibility as Filipinos—to pay our taxes.”

Anne Curtis added to this sentiment saying, “now I am a mother, I think it’s so important that we lead by example to the future generations and encourage others to think about the progression of our country as well for the future generations that have yet to come. So let’s all lead by example and support the BIR and let’s pay everything on time.”

As for Willie Revillame, he simply pointed out how it felt good to be contributing to the country.

BIR also named other top tax-paying celebrities (in no particular order) such as Judy Ann Santos-Agoncillo, Coco Martin, Maja Salvador, Sarah Geronimo, and Liza Soberano. Mike Enriquez, Jessica Soho, and Mel Tiangco were also included, along with Vic Sotto and Michael V. Their rankings and the exact amount of their tax contributions were not disclosed.
