It’s Happening: Park Bo-gum to (Temporarily) Say Goodbye Next Week

It’s finally happening. After it was announced last June that Park Bo-gum will be enlisting in the military, a second announcement shared that it is pushing through at the end of the month.

The actor’s agency, Blossom Entertainment, shared, “Actor Park Bo-gum is slated to enlist in the Korean Navyโ€™s Promotional unit as of the 31st of August 2020. The location and time will not be disclosed and he plans on enlisting quietly without any fuss.”

Blossom added, “Due to the current pandemic, where everyone should carry out social distancing for the sake of public health, we request that fans do not visit the location and support the star in your thoughts instead. Once again, we emphasize our request for fans to refrain from being present on site in hopes of seeing him off. We request fans to cooperate with us on this for the sake of multiple safety issues.”

In our earlier report, Park was admitted to the Navy military band after passing his performance test and interview. He will be joining as a member specializing in piano.

Park will begin service on August 31 at the Navy Education and Training Command in Changwon, South Gyeongsang Province for basic military training before being transferred to the Navy headquarters in Gyeryong. This is to fulfill the mandatory military service of about two years imposed on all able-bodied men in South Korea.

The actor will be in the military until April 2022. However, he has already finished shooting Record of Youth, so fans can have something while they wait for new content.

Reports say that Netflix will premiere the show this year.
