Manila’s future seems rainbow bright as Mayor-elect Isko Moreno shares a post on his official Facebook page celebrating the beginning of Pride Month!
In his post, Isko points out that we have to love each other in order to achieve victory. He’s also pushing for equality and plans on creating projects that will benefit the citizens of Manila. He’s hinted in his post that one of these projects could be bringing Manila its own Pride march and festival!
This doesn’t come as a surprise as Isko’s been vocal about making Manila a more vibrant city.
In an interview with Boy Abunda last month, Isko said, “Palambutin natin ang karakter ng Maynila, na ang Maynila ay hindi lang puro tapang.
“ (Let’s soften Manila’s character, prove that Manila isn’t just full of grit.)
The Metro Manila Pride March has been taking place in Marikina since 2017. We’re still not sure if this means that Mayor Isko wishes to sponsor the march itself and let Manila host it or create Manila’s very own Pride festivities next year, but we’re definitely looking forward to seeing Manila be a safer space for all the members of the LGBT+ community!
What do you hope to see Manila do for Pride next year? Tell us in the comments!
