“Mission: Impossible” fans have been talking about the rumors that Glen Powell will replace Tom Cruise in the future installments of the franchise. Finally, the “Anyone But You” actor set the record straight!

In an episode of “The Pat McAfee Show,” Powell humorously dismissed the rumors, emphasizing that his mother would never allow him to take on the role of agent Ethan Hunt in “Mission: Impossible.”
“My mom would never let me do that,” he said in a call with Pat McAfee. Powell also pointed out the incredible stunts Cruise is known for, calling it the “worst gig in town.”
“That a death trap,” he quipped, bursting into laughter.

The eighth film of the “Mission: Impossible” franchise titled “Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning” is set to premiere on May 23, 2025.
Both action stars appeared in the 2022 film “Top Gun: Maverick.” Powell previously starred in “Hit Man,” “Twisters,” and “The Running Man.” In addition to his iconic role as Ethan Hunt in the “Mission: Impossible” franchise since 1996, Cruise is best known for his roles in “The Last Samurai,” “Rain Man,” “Edge of Tomorrow,” and “The Mummy.”
