Huawei Mate 30 Pro: The Smartphone Camera to Beat!

DXOMARK recently published their official review about the new Huawei Mate 30 Pro along with a whopping 121 DXOMARK rating making the Mate 30 Pro as the #1 smartphone camera this year. Just for FYI, DXOMARK is the leading source of independent image quality measurements and ratings for smartphone, camera and lens since 2008. Sort of like the Michelin Guide for cameras.

And because of this remarkable news, allow me to tell you all about my own camera experience with the Huawei Mate 30 Pro and show you why DXOMARK said it’s “the camera to beat”

First off, here’s a quick background about Huawei’s Mate Series:

The Mate Series is Huawei’s ultimate flagship line. It carries the latest Huawei chipset, the highest battery power and tons of new jaw-dropping high-end innovations by Huawei. The design of each Mate is sleek and ultra-premium. Fit for managers, entrepreneurs, CEOs and people who need a power-packed phone to fit their busy lifestyle. A bit pricy, but worth the investment as the Mate is a smartphone that always delivers.

Over the years, Huawei has been known as the smartphone brand with the best cameras thanks to their unbeatable partnership with Leica. And for this year’s Mate 30 Series, Huawei unleashes yet another set of mind-blowing camera features making them a step (or two) ahead of the competition.

Huawei also recommends this “Camera kit” to elevate your videos further:

  1. DJI Osmo 3 handheld gimbal for more fluid/pro looking videos
  2. Pro Photo: the World’s 1st studio light for smartphone to light your subjects more effectively

These powerful lenses are further enhanced with the help of the Kirin 990 (5G) Chipset because it provides a brand-new ISP 5.0 that pioneers block-matching and 3D filtering (BM3D) professional-level hardware noise reduction (NR) for capturing brighter and sharper images in low light environments. It is also the first to use dual-domain video NR for more accurate noise processing for videos. In addition, the real-time video post-processing and rendering based on AI segmentation can adjust the image color frame by frame to bring cinematic quality. Furthermore, the Mate 30 Pro also has a battery capacity of 4500 mAh to ensure you never miss any moment.

All these breathtaking camera features are just too irresistible especially for photography enthusiasts and video content creators. And I super agree that despite not having Google Apps, the Mate 30 Pro still deserves to re-claim the DXOMARK Photography crown. Truly the smartphone camera to beat!

Oh btw regarding Google, at first I thought I was never gonna be able to access Google Play but thanks to some super techie friends, I managed to download and access Google Play Store on my Mate 30 Pro right away. So far, so good. Kapag gusto talaga, laging may paraan =)

I’m still testing more apps even from the Huawei App Gallery.

As for the price, Huawei has yet to announce its local price here in the Philippines. I’ll keep you updated with further developments in the coming days.
