Have you ever watched a new show and found yourself relating to all the characters—their personalities, their stories, their likes, and their dislikes? That’s exactly how I feel when I watch Viu Philippines’ ongoing Original series “K-Love.”
“K-Love” is a series that follows a group of friends navigating life, their careers, families, and romantic relationships, and who find comfort in each other’s company during K-Drama nights. Top-billed by prominent names in the showbiz industry, “K-Love” teaches us plenty of modern-day life lessons while making us laugh, cry, and, most importantly, explode with kilig!
What makes “K-Love” so special, though, is not just its story, but its kooky cast of characters that you can’t help but love and think, “they’re just like me for real!” Let me introduce you to them all:
Tish
Tish, played by Iza Calzado, is a self-assured boss who can’t seem to have it all similarly figured out in her personal life. Her calm and collectedness mask certain anxieties she feels about her age and her unwillingness to let people down at the cost of her own inner peace. She tends to bottle her emotions up, but with the help of her best friend Sheila and their newfound K-Drama Watch Club, she is slowly allowing herself to unravel and take charge of her own happiness—and we’re rooting for her all the way!
Jay
Jay, played by Jake Cuenca, is a kind, compassionate soul. Born into a rich family, Jay had everything handed to him on a silver platter but doesn’t let all that stop him from caring about those who are less fortunate than he is. Bookish and business-oriented, Jay seems to struggle with matters of his own heart too as he secretly still pines for his High School crush, Tish.
Sheila
Brash, tenacious, and candid Sheila is just the friend that everyone doesn’t know they need. Played by Isabelle Daza, Sheila will tell you like it is and won’t be afraid to call you out on your B.S. She believes in the saying “Go big or go home” and relishes being under the spotlight, which means that she often can’t help making others’ problems about her. But when it matters, she will bend over backward to help the people she truly cares about, most especially her two kids.
Val
Val, just like Tish, is a strong, independent girl boss who doesn’t let anyone or anything get in her way to success. Played by Sue Ramirez, Val is spunky, edgy, and outspoken, though sometimes to a certain fault. Despite being unafraid to fight for what she believes in, she often clashes with other people who may not agree with her principles and her stubbornness puts her in sticky situations. But it’s clear that she has a heart of gold as she works hard to succeed in her start-up business, refusing to depend on other people for money, and not allowing her family background to define her.
Frances
Frances, portrayed by Gabby Padilla, is every CEO’s dream employee. Diligent, driven, and with a go-getter attitude, Frances excels in every task given to her and does so with boundless optimism. She is also a girl who knows exactly what she’s passionate about and the people around her can’t help but support her in her pursuit of them. She is the group’s biggest K-Drama fan and, without her, there would be no K-Drama Watch Club!
“K-Love” can now be streamed on Viu, with brand-new episodes every Friday night.
