Hi-5 is in Manila for Their First Ever Live Concert Style Stage Show
When in Manila, who doesn’t know Hi-5? Mommies like me will definitely be able to relate to the fangirlness that comes with knowing the Hi-5 cast from watching the show. After all, it is practically inevitable for kids to get hooked onto Hi-5 after watching the show for the first time. This then results in them watching the show every single day – in my case, four times a day (two times back-to-back on Disney Junior).
I pretty much got hooked after watching the show once. Why? I have two words for you: Stevie Nicholson. :p So, upon arriving at the venue, I fought my way to the front row of the seats, looked for Stevie’s nameplate and sat right smack in front of it. Despite being a big Stevie fan, though, I couldn’t wait to see the new cast! And when I heard them singing the Underwater song backstage, I squealed like the mommy fangirl that I am.
Soon after that, they were introduced one by one and sat in down in front of us for the press con.
Hi-5 is in Manila
Stevie Nicholson and Lauren Brant, who have been with Hi-5 for a while now (Stevie for 6 years and Lauren for 4 years), welcome newcomers Dayen Zheng, Mary Lascaris and Ainsley Melham to the stage in a Dance Party extravaganza with Hi-5’s favorite friend DJ Chats as the party meister. While Lauren wasn’t at the press con (I asked about this during my question-time chance with them and found out she was at a personal wedding), it was still a day of smiles, grins and laughter.
There were quite a few questions from the audience, including what they did before Hi-5 and I was pleasantly surprised to learn that most of them had some sort of background with working on-stage or with children. Dayen was a ballerina, for instance, while Mary dressed up as all sorts of different characters in Universal Studios Japan. Ainsley was even nice enough to show us his expert tap-dancing skills!
Stevie and Dayen also beatboxed and rapped for us. Plus, I got the chance to ask the Hi-5 cast a few questions. I ended up getting too much into the zone, though, that I took up a lot of their time. I’m terribly sorry about this, but like I said, I’m a massive fangirl of the showโฆ as is evident by my reactions during my time on the mic as an interviewer:
Fortunately, their reactions seem to show that they enjoyed my questions, as well:
I learned that the Hi-5 cast stays happy by feeding off of each other’s good vibes and seeing smiles on the faces of the children (and not-so-children like me) that they entertain.
I also learned that Stevie would never want to try balut because he smelled it once and found out what it was. He did, however, promise to get Mary to try it – who is more adventurous in terms of food – and post the video of her eating it on Instagram.
This weekend marks Hi-5โs first live โconcert styleโ stage show and after a big shout out to fans of over 100,000 on Facebook to find out their most loved songs, the show will feature Hi-5โs most popular song line-up. It also features a sneak peek at songs featuring in the new revamped series โHi-5 Houseโ. Of course, classic favorites such as L.O.V.E and โReady or Notโ will have audiences singing along, as well.
Look forward to joining in the familiar party games, as well as a limbo competition. There will definitely be lots of music and dancing, too – a non-stop dance party! So, put on your party clothes and dancing shoes When in Manila and get ready for the Hi-5 House Party!
Best. Day. Ever. Thank you so much, Wilbros Live! I LOVE YOU!!!
