Here Are Some of the Filipino Authors You Can Meet at the Manila International Book Fair!

From a book talk, panel discussion, book signings, and a book launch, Milflores authors join the fun and celebration at the biggest book fair of the year. Visitors can expect a variety of events at the Manila International Book Fair, which runs from September 14 to 17, 2023, at the SMX Convention Center Manila at the Mall of Asia Complex.

Oncologist Dr. Wilfredo Liangco, who graduated from UP College of Medicine and trained in internal medicine and medical oncology at the Philippine General Hospital, will share more about his writing and creative process in a book talk on his debut collection of essays, Even Ducks Get Liver Cancer. Happening on September 14, 2023, 12:30-1:30 PM, at Meeting Room 7. Medicine students, teachers, creative nonfiction writers, and readers are invited to join Dr. Liangco’s book talk.

Contemporary fiction writing panel

In a first-time event of Milflores Publishing, three of their contemporary fiction writers will join forces to give an exclusive behind stories of their writing process. Debut novelists Katrina Martin, author of At Home With Crazy, and Kannika Claudine Peña, author of All The Lonely People, together with award-winning Charlson Ong, author of White Lady, Black Christ, will frontline the panel discussion on September 16, 2023, 10:00-11:00 AM, at Meeting Room 5. This event will also be moderated by author and Milflores’ editor Raissa Falgui. All interested visitors, readers, and writers alike are invited to attend this panel.

Book launches

Two new titles arrive at Milflores for September this year.

Award-winning poet Dr. Marjorie Evasco will launch her book It’s Time To Come Home on September 17, 2023, 10:00-11:00 AM, in Meeting Room 5.

Another first for Milflores is the Philippine edition of Cigarette Girl by Indonesian author Ratih Kumala. The book is already being adapted into a Netflix series to be released in November. MIBF visitors can also watch the trailer and an exclusive video from the author at selected times throughout the four-day event at their booth.

Book signings

Aside from the above-mentioned events, Milflores authors will also participate in book signings at the Milflores booth.

Silver is My Gold author and retired Supreme Court Associate Justice Adolfo Azcuna will have his book signing session on September 15, 2023, from 3:00-4:00 PM. Everyone is welcome to meet and chat with him on that schedule.

On the last day of the MIBF, September 17, 2023, three of Milflores’s authors will be having their book signing sessions at different times.

Visitors will get to meet Dr. Will Liangco at the booth from 11:00 AM to 12:00 NN, and Katrina Martin from 1:00 to 2:00 PM. Finally, Kannika Peña will be at the booth from 3:00-4:00 PM.
