Ever since Taal erupted, we’ve had some ashfall cover a wide span of land and it’s driven people to panic buying masks and respirators. Unfortunately, in many places, these masks are now sold out.
These alternatives could help you out in times of trouble. Reduce the risk of breathing in ash by considering these alternatives to N95 masks if they’re sold out in your local pharmacy. Please still refrain from leaving your homes but if you really must, you can use one of these alternatives.
A cloth soaked with water
This is to make sure you don’t inhale smoke. Make sure the water is clean!
A regular mask with two pieces of tissue added

Apparently the added tissue papers help filter further, making it more effective.
The R95 mask
This mask, apparently, does the same thing the N95 does while also being resistant to oil-based particles! In short, they’re even more protective.
We also asked Twitter about what areas still had masks and weren’t sold out and we got a few answers! Check out the thread if these are more accessible to you!
Please reply to this tweet if you know where to buy masks and respirators!
