What a great day for Philippine cinema! Kathryn Bernardo and Alden Richards’ “Hello, Love, Again” sets the bar high on its first day!
The “Hello, Love, Goodbye” sequel earned over P85 million on its first day, which is the highest opening gross for a local film in the Philippines.
The film is currently being screened in 656 cinemas nationwide, the highest number for a local film. In total, it will be shown in 1,000 cinemas worldwide.
Apart from this, the romance film will be making waves in the international movie scene as it will be the official closing feature film at the 10th Asian Film Festival. It will be screened on November 20 at the Culver Theater in California, United States.
Previously, “Hello, Love, Goodbye” held the highest-grossing Philippine film of all time until it was surpassed by Rewind in January 2024. The 2018 blockbuster hit earned a total revenue of P880 million.
Hello, Love, Again features the love story of Joy (Kathryn) and Ethan (Alden) after she migrates to Canada, following their paths crossing in Hong Kong.
Prior to the film’s release, Kathryn and Alden expressed how thankful they were for each other’s presence throughout the shooting of their film.
Kathryn said: “I think it’s just very comforting to know na I’m not doing this alone. Because like what I said kanina, grabe lang siguro ‘yung, sobra akong kinakabahan sa lahat. Lahat ng mangyayari so it’s just nice na feeling ko ngayon hindi ko lang siya mag-isa hinaharap kasi kasama ko si Alden (Maybe it’s just that I’m really nervous about everything, so it’s nice that I feel like I’m not facing it alone because Alden is with me).”
“It is for the people to decide and it’s for them to really, you know, by word of mouth to tell if the movie is worth watching,” Alden shared.
Directed by Cathy Garcia-Sampana, “Hello, Love, Again,” is now showing in cinemas nationwide.
