GoTyme Debit Card: Is It Worth Getting? Here’s My Honest Review

With plenty of different banks and debit cards out there that you can own and use for your daily transactions, there is a question of which one is the most useful, practical, and convenient to have.

The long and short of it is that it’s nifty to have at least three different cards that serve different purposes and offer a range of benefits. And I believe one particular debit card should be among the chosen few that you should always have with you wherever you go: the GoTyme Bank Debit Card.

It’s been over a year since I first opened a GoTyme Bank account and got my GoTyme Debit Card. If you didn’t know, it’s quick, easy, and free to get a GoTyme Debit Card by going to the special kiosks in Robinsons Malls and their partner merchants like No Brand and The Marketplace. You can either open an account via the mobile app and then claim your free card at the kiosk or create your account at the kiosk itself—all in less than 10 minutes.

Ever since I’ve gotten my GoTyme Debit Card, I’ve used it as my mode of payment here and abroad. It may not be my primary debit card, but I have honestly enjoyed so many benefits just by having it and using it. I’ve specifically made the most out of its promos with partner dining establishments, like at The Grid in Rockwell which gives a 25% discount to your total bill, and at Monza Barcade in Pasig which gives a whopping 50% discount!

You also get GoRewards points for transactions made at GoRewards partners which you can immediately see on the app—and these points are actually convertible to cash (1 point = ₱0.80)!

I also like that transfers made from GoTyme Bank to other banks are free up to 3x per week, while specific banks can also offer free deposits to GoTyme Bank for a specific number of times per month. And the interest rate for GoSave savings accounts is already 4%!

As mentioned, I’ve used my GoTyme Debit Card with transactions abroad and found it super easy and convenient to use. All you need to do is tap or swipe to pay in stores or public transit, and you’ll immediately get notified on your phone what the equivalent peso amount is. In my opinion, the GoTyme Debit Card doesn’t give the *best* forex rates but it’s definitely the Top 2 best debit card for traveling, especially with no international withdrawal fees and I’d recommend you to use it in tandem with your other chosen debit card.

All in all, in nearly 2 years of having a GoTyme Bank account and using the GoTyme Debit Card, I’ve enjoyed my experience and I’d say that if you’re still on the fence about having one, you should definitely go for it. But of course, please do your own research and talk to trusted people so you can make better-informed financial decisions!
