Get a Taste of Japan with Ganso Gyukatsu

We’ve been wanting to travel to Japan for the longest time and since we haven’t had a chance to do that yet, we are looking for places to get a taste of Japan here in Manila.

When in Manila and looking for some delicious Gyukatsu? Ganso Gyukatsu just opened in MOA Square. It’s just across SMX Manila and just below Ikea. If you are planning to drop by, don’t forget to reserve as the walk-in queue is long.

We started with some Edamame, Enoki Mushroom chips, and Chicken Karaage while we ar waiting for our gyukatsus. We loved the freshness of the edamame and how the Enoki was served hot and super crispy. Since we went with our 4-year-old, she loved the Chicken Karaage that is perfectly crispy on the outside and juicy inside. It’s also seasoned well and not too salty.

We went here to try their gyukatsu sets and the signature set costs Php 848 for 130g it’s their Japan-style beef which is rich in tenderness. The other Gyukatsu set is their Striploin which is Php748 for 130g and 1088 for 200g. Each set is served with cabbage, miso soup, rice, and different dipping sauces.

Each piece of meat has beautiful marbling and the katsu coating adds dimension to the texture of the meat. The marbling made each bite melt in your mouth.

Since each set is served with an egg, one of the managers suggested that we pour it over the steaming hot rice or as a dipping sauce for the meats. We loved how it complimented the meat and added a creamy layer. There are also 3 sauces included in the set: Yakiniku, Ponzu, and Miso Dare sauce. They also have sansho salt and Uji matcha salt that you can directly sprinkle over your beef cutlets.

Though their specialty are gyukatsus, they also offer small plates and rice bowls for those who want something different. You can view their menu below to see what their other offers are.
