Gawad Kalinga Enchanted Farm at the End of the Day
I could not let the day end without checking out the local market for fresh produce.
It was a particularly warm day and after the tour we had with Sir Jay, cooling down with some ice cream was the obvious idea.
We capped off the day with a juicy Golden Duck burger for Php 75, served with some kamote fries on the side.
Many people certainly have heard of the GK Enchanted Farm, but not many know the real deal behind this place, of the organization that built it, Gawad Kalinga. Their dream is simple: to end poverty. Plain and simple, yes, but this particular social issue has so many facets to it. However, the Gawad Kalinga team does not let that hinder them from their ultimate goal. Sky’s the limit for this humble and fast-growing organization, and the only direction they seem to be headed for is forward.
Equipping their beneficiaries with the right tools, education, and means to help them stand on their feet, Gawad Kalinga takes actions that not only deliver some of our less fortunate countrymen from their poor plight. The most direct way of supporting their cause is through volunteering but one can also help their organization and beneficiaries by supporting local products that were born, “bred” and produced at the Gawad Kalinga Enchanted Farm and their other partner communities.
When in Manila, go loco over local, support Gawad Kalinga’s causes, and help move our country forward. Because the spirit of giving and well-wishing shouldn’t be limited to this holiday season.
