When the streets of Dangwa are abloom with flowers and bustling with activity, you know it’s that time of year: Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, or even All Saint’s Day. But beyond holidays and special occasions, this spot in Manila has become known as a flower haven for people to get their blooms.
But with the ongoing pandemic and sporadic quarantine restrictions, flower sales have dropped. People just didn’t need fresh flowers as much, and even if they did, getting them wasn’t as easy as before.
Just when you thought that Dangwa officially closed their doors, the Filipino resiliency shone through, and these vendors have discovered how to keep going. Thus, instead of just offering fresh flowers, they now sell pressed ones that will last you much, much longer.
From Fresh to Pressed Flowers
Compared to fresh flowers, pressed flowers are dried flowers that are given a new chance at life. They’re colorful, sometimes more muted, and last much longer. Plus, they make for good decor. Thanks to a tip from Diary Two, we’ve got a glimpse of Dangwa in the new normal, and the place looks just as vibrant as it did before.
Just look at some of the pressed flowers that you can get!
According to the post made by Diary Two, each bouquet can go for PHP 250 and up depending on the kind of flower and the stall you visit. In order for these flowers to last you for a year, make sure not to get them wet. Store your blooms in a dry place, and wipe gently when they get dirty.
These pressed blooms are perfect for both accentuating the place, and they even make great props for photography (though I’ll definitely be using them as accents in my food photos, of course). Nothing like adding a pop of color in a room, am I right?
