Nearly 5 years since they first opened their doors to young college students in UP Town Center, Fat Seed Cafe + Roastery has long made its mark as a food destination in Manila where anyone from all walks of life can sit and indulge in exemplary yet budget-friendly meals made with the highest quality of ingredients, fine coffees from their in-house roasted beans, and delicious desserts amid a cozy environment that’s conducive for leisurely hangouts and remote work.
Now, with their latest branch in One Ayala Makati, Fat Seed Cafe + Roastery continues to serve that one-of-a-kind dining experience in a much larger space—and with a few extras!
Fat Seed Cafe + Roastery is owned and managed by husband-and-wife tandem Bryant Dee and Brenna Tsourous-Dee who put people at the core of their restaurant business. Speaking to WhenInManila.com about what constitutes the success of their cafe, Bryant passionately went into detail about the importance of caring for their staff—giving them the best and fair working conditions—and providing their customers a safe and relaxing space to eat, drink, enjoy time with friends, or dine alone.
“Everyone who eats here eats happy,” Bryant said, and it does seem true. I, for one, couldn’t keep the smile off my face with every bite I took in each of the dishes I got to try—all of which were cooked with love and to perfection, and that Bryant himself helped develop for his talented chefs to bring to reality. As for coffee, one mustn’t neglect to try their Spanish Latte which many have said to be the best in Metro Manila. My favorite, though, is the Manuka Honey Latte which already uses Oat Milk (fellow lactose intolerants, rejoice!)
And because I have a sweet tooth, I couldn’t leave without sinking my teeth into Fat Seed Cafe + Roastery’s desserts. What I got to try were the Ultimate Chocolate Chip Cookie and the Overloaded Brownie and, my god, I felt like I died and went to dessert heaven—no exaggeration. The brownie was oh so fudgy and went so well with the huge scoop of vanilla ice cream. The chocolate chip cookie was also one of the best I’ve ever eaten, so soft and decadent.
Fat Seed Cafe + Roastery in One Ayala Mall truly is a must-visit, whether you’re looking for someplace to work, chill, or enjoy great-tasting food that won’t burn a hole in your wallet. Spacious, homey, and with plenty of seating, plus a handful of new dishes you can try out first at this location, Fat Seed Cafe + Roastery’s One Ayala branch ranks high in my personal list of go-to value-for-money food spots when in Manila. I’ll be sure to visit it again and again!
