Gina Camacho-David, AdventEnergy Vice President for Retail and Energy Solutions; James Byron Yun, AdventEnergy First Vice President and Head of Retail; Sandro Aboitiz, AboitizPower Chief Financial Officer; Ian Paradies, Engkanto Brewery Founder; and Ricard Basora, Engkanto Brewery Managing Director

This milestone signifies an important step in enabling key industries and local businesses to operate sustainably.

โ€œTogether, we are enhancing operational efficiency and championing sustainability in the craft beer industry,โ€ said James Byron Yu, First Vice President and Head of Retail of AdventEnergy. APx is part of the solutions arm of AboitizPower retail unit AdventEnergy.

โ€œWe are happy to help our partner, Engkanto Brewery, create enjoyable drinking experiences and in the process, power their facilities more sustainably.โ€

Engkanto Breweryโ€™s new solar energy system is expected to generate 130,293 kWh in its first year of operation and a total of approximately 2.6 million kWh over the 20-year contract term with APx. This reduction in reliance on conventional energy sources will drastically cut the breweryโ€™s carbon footprint.

Commitment to uplifting the community and the environment

APx provided Engkanto Brewery with advanced solar panels that will supply clean, renewable energy to their operations, significantly reducing the breweryโ€™s reliance on conventional energy sources, decreasing their carbon emissions, and bolstering their commitment to eco-friendly practices.

Construction of the solar project began earlier this year, and the system was tested and commissioned by Q2 of 2024 with the facility now operating on clean, renewable energy.

“This marks an important chapter in our mission to brew quality beers while supporting environmental sustainability,โ€ said Ian Paradies, Founder of Engkanto Brewery.

The project comes at a perfect time this October, a month widely regarded as โ€œBeer Monthโ€ in most countries, including the Philippines.

Since its inception in 2017, Engkanto Brewery has been synonymous with innovation and craftsmanship, earning recognition as the most internationally awarded local brewery in the Philippines.

After initially brewing in Makati, Engkanto moved to its larger, state-of-the-art facility in Cavite, allowing it to create more job opportunities for locals and contribute to the growth of the community.

Both companies are committed to exploring more opportunities for renewable energy integration, working together to inspire a broader shift towards sustainable practices in the Philippinesโ€™ craft beer industry.
