With a blossoming career ahead of her and a successful stint in the United Nations, Emma Watson is poised to be one of Hollywood’s greatest A-listers. But while the actress has successfully transitioned into an artist with her own identity, she still strongly identifies with the role she’s known most as: Harry Potter’s Hermione Granger.
With that, it could have been quite an experience for her to watch another actress take over the role as Noma Dumezweni did in the play “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child”. But does Emma harbor any ill feelings?
Can’t wait to see Noma Dumezweni as Hermione on stage this year. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ #harrypotterandthecursedchild #2016

Being the class act that she is, not only did she speak out in support of Dumezweni as Hermione, she revealed that she cried tears of joy in watching the older actress’ performance as an aged Hermione with a husband and children.
It was SO lovely to meet you @MissDumezweni. #Hermiones pic.twitter.com/xkh0PQyZEr

Speaking with EW, Emma said:
It was so strange. It was so emotional seeing Noma’s performance in a way that I had not anticipated at all. She walked in the room and I just spontaneously burst into tears. … I had played that character so intensely up until that point, that to know that Hermione was going to be okay — I know it sounds crazy — but to know that everything turned out all right and everything in the world was okay, that there was someone else carrying her on and carrying her forward … it was just such a relief.
