This is Haven of Love, a sanctuary for abused and abandoned animals. They are still in the early stages of development (they haven’t opened yet), but the people behind this great cause are hoping that through awareness and help from the public and animal lovers, most especially, opening this sanctuary would be a soon achieved reality.
We previously wrote about them here and got some really awesome feedback from you guys, with many asking how they can help, so we thought we’d give you an update on how the project is going.
Haven of Love had their groundbreaking ceremony last August 28th at their 14,000 square meter lot at Silang, Cavite, just a 10-15 minute drive from the Tagaytay rotunda. And I was there to witness the momentous event.
Amidst the rainy days Luzon was experiencing that week, the rain clouds seemed to have taken a break that day just to let the ceremony push through. Despite the overcast sky, it remained mostly dry throughout the program, aside from a short moment of light drizzle.
The organizers were thankful for the cooperative weather and, by the looks of it, as were the adorable furry guests. Haven of Love’s grassland was filled with happy pets that day; dogs of all breeds and sizes roaming around and playing. Being a dog momma myself, my heart was absolutely filled with glee to be surrounded by such creatures.
Various animal and dog groups were present. Some coming from all the way from Pampanga, Los Baños, and all around Metro Manila. Haven of Love provided buses to get their friends, these passionate animal advocates, from Manila to their site in Cavite. Pets were welcome aboard, too!
During the site tour, guests were brought to the different areas where the sanctuary’s structures and animal areas were to be built. There will be playgrounds for the animals to roam around, a dog pool, a vegetable farm for the volunteers, a pet cemetery, a cat area, and animal shelters. There is also a freedom wall, called Wall of Love, where visitors can leave messages for the shelter animals or their own little furry best friends.

It is a long road to the completion of Haven of Love, and the place needs all the help it can get. Celebrity couple Joey Mead King and Angelina King, for example, are sponsoring a few animal shelters. Joey Mead King is also on Haven of Love’s board of trustees.
You can get involved, too! Help is needed not just in raising funds for the amazing cause, but on the site as well. If you don’t mind getting your hands dirty, all for the love of our four-legged friends, then you are what the team needs.
