Renowned movie and television director Maryo J. Delos Reyes has passed away Saturday night, according to reports. He was 65.
The filmmaker, fondly called Direk Maryo, was reportedly attending a birthday party in Dipolog City, Zamboanga del Norte when he suffered a heart attack.
Celebrities and showbiz industry veterans took to social media to mourn the death of the acclaimed director.

Prior to his death, one of Direk Maryo’s last public appearances was during the press conference for Jason Paul Laxamana’s “Instalado” at the Cinematheque Manila of the Film Development Council of the Philippines.
The director was best known for films such as the award-winning “Magnifico” starring Jiro Manio, and “The Unmarried Wife”, where Angelica Panganiban received an award for Best Actress during the FAMAS 2017 Awards.
