LOOK: Growing Plants is Now Easier with These Cool Plant Kits

Being safe and stuck at home has made me realize how therapeutic and relaxing it really is to have plants in the house. Plus, having all this time cooking and experimenting in the kitchen made me want fresh herbs at home, too.

I haven’t really experienced growing plants from scratch, and honestly, it’s freaking me out a bit. Thankfully, expert plantitas/plantitos are sharing their knowledge through plant kits. These awesome kits normally already include soil, seeds, a kind of pot, and a guide for plant care. They’re perfect for beginning plant growers.

If you’re in the market for plant kits, here are a few that you should try: (This list is not in any order)

Seed Starter MNL

Seed Starter MNL was brought forth because of the inconveniences experienced by Stephanie Aquino during the community lockdown. Like many of us, Aquino had to line up for long hours just to get fresh produce. That’s when she got the idea of starting her own gardening store.

Since plants have become such a huge trend while we’re all safe at home, she decided to offer something both decorative and functional.

Seed Starter offers a wide variety of plant kits that can meet whatever your needs are. There’s the Salad-in-a-Box (PHP 875) which has lettuce, tomato, basil, and kale seeds; there’s the Herb Garden kit (PHP 875) that has basil, parsley, chives, and arugula seeds; and for those in the market for blooming flowers, they also have the Flower Garden kit (PHP 850) which has sunflower seeds.

Each kit also contains everything you’ll need: from soil, a seedling tray, coco pots, a wooden plant box for, up to mini gardening tools which were honestly, my favorite part in the kit!

If you want to share the joys of growing your own plants, Seed Starter MNL also offers discounts for bulk orders (perfect for holiday gifts or virtual party giveaways)!

Plant Rainbow PH

Mompreneur Karissa Chua decided to start Plant Rainbow when she was thinking of ways to keep her children entertained. So, she decided to teach them how to plant (teach ‘em young, right?) and proceeded to share the experience with everyone else!

Plant Rainbow PH offers three types of plant kits: the Mini Garden Kit (PHP 170) which has a seedling tray; the Garden in a Pot (PHP 90) which includes a couple of coco pots; and the bestselling Painy My Pot kit (PHP 140) which includes a plain terracota pot and acrylic paint in 6 colors.

While Plant Rainbow PH was started with kids in mind, that doesn’t mean that adults can’t join in on the fun, too! Besides, who wouldn’t enjoy growing their own plant and painting their own pot?

Sprout A Seed PH

The power couple behind Sprout A Seed PH believes that no one truly has a “black thumb”—we all just need the proper tools, guidance, and product. That’s exactly what Sprout A Seed PH offers.

Aside from offering plant kits with complete tools and equipment (such as reusable starter pots, pot coasters, potting media, and even fertilizer), each kit also has detailed care cards that tells you everything you need to know about growing your plants. Personally, the care cards were the best thing about this particular plant kit. It gives you complete details, from how to layer your potting media with fertilizer, down to the number of hours that your growing plant needs the sun.

Casey Valencerina, co-founder of Sprout A Seed, shares that it’s their goal to ease people into urban gardening. So, they extensively researched on the best way to grow their seeds, and everything they learned are all included in the plant kit that could be easily yours. Their mini kits with one seed variant starts at PHP 199 while their regular Grow Kits with your choice of 2 seed variants starts at PHP 649.

Seedibles

The people behind Seedibles were inspired by the philosophy that “our lives are closely interwoven with nature and each other,” which is why they created quality plant therapy kits that can help anyone “eat what you sow.”

The kits from Seedibles are supposed to build your confidence in growing your own food, so they put in a lot of research into the products that are included in each kit—and they really go above and beyond the usual! They even include Morning Miracle Caplets (or growth boosters) and their very own Seedibles Bloom Serum (a.k.a. fertilizer cocktail).

“We thought to ourselves: how many Filipinos get discouraged from planting when they think of all the preparation and research that needs to be done beforehand? We wanted planting to be made easy, and that’s what Seedibles promises to deliver,” shares Samantha Eala, co-founder of Seedibles

They also offer a wide range of Garden Kits. These include Earthy Herb Garden Kit, Scrumptious Salad Garden Kit, Succulent Salsa Garden Kit, and Pizza Party Garden Kit.

Their plant kits start at PHP 499! BONUS: Use the promo code “WHENINMANILA10” for a 10% discount with a minimum purchase of PHP 499!
