We asked singer-actor Christian Bautista how he was able to stay in the showbiz industry for more than a decade during his contract renewal at the Universal Records Office.
He revealed, “There is no secret, you will just have to keep producing songs and releasing songs, and hopefully that people will latch on to it. But I guess the indicator right now is yung mga Spotify playlists, ‘yung charts, kasi doon mo talaga makikita, eh. Doon mo makikita ‘yung staying power ng songs. For example, ‘yung Tadhana ng UBB, ang tagal sa Spotify playlist.”
[English translation: “There is no secret, you will just have to keep producing songs and releasing songs, and hopefully that people will latch on to it. But I guess the indicator right now is the Spotify playlists, the charts, because that’s where you’ll really see. That’s where you’ll see the “staying power” of a song. For example, the song “Tadhana” by UBB, that was on the Spotify playlist for a long time.”]
He also added, “Mahirap nga lang tumagal, [because sometimes] the songs are so replaceable. Kapag may bagong maganda doon agad pumupunta ‘yung tao. But if the song is that good, mag-stay ‘yun, mag-stay ‘yun talaga. ”
[English translation: “It’s hard for songs to stay on top, because songs can be replaceable. If there’s a new and really good one, people tend to listen to that one. But if the song is that good, it’ll stay on top for a long time.”]
