Neri Naig recently received criticism from netizens after posting a “sample budget meal plan” that would supposedly only cost Php 1,000 and be enough for an entire week. This prompted his husband, Parokya ni Edgar frontman Chito Miranda to jump in and defend her. In a lengthy Instagram post, the vocalist expressed his thoughts.
Chito Miranda on Neri Naig’s 1K Weekly Meal Plan
“A few weeks ago, Neri came up with a weekly meal plan, for a family of 2-4, working with a budget of only P2k. It was mostly for fun, but she also thought that it could be useful for those who might want to use it as a guide.😊👍🏻 Meals were cheap but relatively healthy, and consisted mostly of vegetables. The ‘pork sinigang’ was mostly kangkong and sinigang mix, with a few strips of pork. It was detailed, and had the proper costing to back it up. She did the math,” Miranda began, giving a background on his wife’s niche as a content creator and explaining how Naig came up with the idea of the 1K meal plan.
“She also reminded those who will be using her meal plan to add portions as needed, depending on their family’s size and appetite. Sinabi nya din na the meal plan was merely a guide which they could use as a starting point,” he continued and then emphasized, “It was a big hit with her followers.”
Moreover, he pointed out that it wasn’t the same meal plan they followed at home because they are 10 in the house. The sole intent of the post was said to be to “let her followers know that it could be done (palagi kasi talagang napag-uusapan yun sa page nya).”
It was then that Naig wanted to create a more affordable meal plan. “This time, she’ll try to keep it under P1k,” he said.
“Soon enough, she was able to come up with one, and kahit madaling araw na, she eagerly shared it with her followers (and again, madaming natuwa at nagpasalamat),” Miranda went on, “and since it was intended for those who already knew what she was doing, she made the crucial mistake of not filling in the details.”
However, “It was soon picked up by those who knew nothing of what she was doing, and was instantly bashed for it. Grabe diba? Naisip lang naman ng asawa ko na baka sakaling makatulong yung meal plan nya sa mga tao that might find it useful, na-bash pa sya ng mga taong hindi naman nakasubaybay kung bakit ginagawa nya yung meal plan.💔”
The husband noted that Naig had deleted the post, nevertheless, but will soon re-upload a more elaborate version. He confirmed, “Di bale…dinelete nya na po yung post nya, and she will make it more detailed for those who do not fully understand what she was doing.”
“What a cruel, cruel world,” Miranda added.
In conclusion, he wrote, “Anyway, for those who knew what Neri was doing, ayusin nya lang daw muna yung details para mas maging helpful yung guide nya. For those who got angry and threw stones without knowing the details of what she was doing, good job sa inyo.❤️”
