Fresh from the success of its inaugural international cat show last July, the Feline Council of the Philippines, Inc. (FCPI) is organizing its second Funtastic Felines Coral Jubilee International Cat Show at the East Wing of Estancia Mall in Capital Commons, Pasig, on 14-15 October 2023.
Over 100 cats of different breeds, such as British Shorthairs, Highland Folds, Scottish Folds, Toygers, Exotic Shorthairs, Persians, Maine Coons, and many more will vie for the title of Best General on each day, and ultimately the title of Best Supreme on the second day. Our very own domestic shorthair, or puspin have also taken the spotlight in past shows, proving that cat lovers and judges appreciate โbeauty beyond the breed.โ
International all-breed judges from the World Cat Federation (WCF) are invited to judge the exhibition. โIt is an exciting time to be a cat lover in the Philippines these days,โ says Mr. Eduard Borras, WCF all-breed judge from Spain. โSpain is a dog-loving country just like the Philippines and I am glad to see that cat exhibitions in the Philippines are becoming more frequent and competitive,โ he added. Completing the judging panel are Mr. Allan Raymond from Australia and Mr. Walter Baraldi from Italy.
Asked what made FCPI organize a second show so quickly after the first one, FCPI President Rino Paez has this to say, โThe number of entries on the first one was just overwhelming. We felt that we owe it to the exhibitors to put together a follow-up show, a quality show where they can have fun and compete in a very relaxed environment. I know that seems contradictory but that is really the vibe and trademark of every FCPI show.โ
โI hope we sustain the momentum,โ Paez remarked. โShow after show, cats that are joining are improving by leaps and bounds. Our aim is to elevate the standard of the cat fancy until we know we can go toe-to-toe with the best in the region.โ
For FCPI, Funtastic Felines isnโt just any other event. It is also a platform to constantly improve knowledge on feline health and nutrition, and to highlight the value that cats bring to every household that welcomes them.
