Rarely grazing any event, the two founding pillars of Buddyโs, Mr. Zaldy Veluz arrived alongside his wife Ms. Nova Veluz. The program started off with the opening remarks from the Veluz siblings. They greeted everyone with smiles and a warm thank you for attending the event. It was great to see that Buddyโs truly is a family-run business at its core, with the Veluz kids being very hands-on. After a few festive games, everyone was treated to a buffet dinner featuring the Party Trays and Bilaos of Buddyโs. Some notable dishes they served are their famous Hardinera, Lucban Longganisa, Chicken Barbeque, and Pork Sisig. Of course, its best-selling Pancit Lucban and Buddyโs Spaghetti were also served and enjoyed by the guests.

After enjoying the lovely dishes served by Buddyโs, the guests of the event were able to sit down and have a personal chit chat with Mr. Zaldy โโBuddyโโ Veluz himself and his lovely wife. They shared the story behind Buddyโs and how it started with a surplus of rejected Baguio beans turned into their famous Lumpiang Sariwa that catapulted Buddyโs into being a well-loved restaurant in Lucban, Quezon. They also shared the inspiration for their Buddyโs spaghetti. Who knew that this dish isnโt just well-loved; it was also inspired by love! Mr. Veluz himself told the story that while he was in the kitchen cooking the first few batches of Buddy’s spaghetti, his wife walked in and he instantly knew it was love at first sight. That inspired him to work hard on perfecting the dish until it became the #1 Spaghetti on Spot.ph last 2013. They also answered the most sought-after question of the night: What is the secret to keeping a family-run business alive for 37 years? The couple both said that they were deeply inspired by their faith, their family, their employees, and most of all, their love for their hometown, Lucban, Quezon.

The festivities did not stop there. After the inspiring talk with Mr. and Mrs. Veluz, the fiesta vibes were brought to life one last time with a Habhaban contest among the attendees before the celebration ended. The Habhaban contest is a festival game done in Lucban in order to celebrate their famous Pancit Lucban. The mighty challengers of the Habhaban festival had to eat as many plates of Pancit Lucban as they could in a span of 1 minute. The contestant who ate the most plates wins the Habhaban contest.
