K-Pop stars BTS and BLACKPINK’s Lisa made history at the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards! The awards show aired live from the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J. yesterday, emceed by LL Cool J, Nicki Minaj, and Jack Harlow.
LISA from BLACKPINK became the first K-pop soloist to win a VMA! Upon accepting her Best K-Pop award for “LALISA”, she thanked the Blinks saying, “you’re the most important ones!”

BLACKPINK as a group also received a Moon Person trophy for Best Metaverse Performance, and made a debut performance of their latest single โPink Venom.โ
The girl group earned their first VMA award in 2020 with โHow You Like Thatโ as the Song of the Summer.
On the other hand, BTS was awarded the โGroup of the Yearโ trophy โ a record-breaking fourth consecutive win at the VMAs! However, ELLE reported that Jin, Jimin, J-Hope, V, RM, Suga, and Jungkook did not reunite in New Jersey to attend the ceremony as they were currently focusing on solo projects.

Another K-pop band that took home a VMA award is SEVENTEEN through the Push Performance of the Year award with “Rock With You”.
