In an exclusive interview with Paper Magazine, Rosé revealed the themes of her upcoming album will be “much heavier” than the fun drinking game that inspired the hit track “APT.”

“I think I’m grateful enough to have gone through a few relationships, you know, like a normal girl in her 20s,” she said.

She added: “I do want people to understand that I’m not much different from your average girlfriend, or 23-year-old girl. I’m probably very relatable if you listen to my songs, and if anyone’s been in that kind of a relationship. It doesn’t even have to be about a boyfriend, just any type of toxic relationship.”

According to Paper, the BLACKPINK soloist’s solo album will feature a “Swiftian storytelling,” that dives deeper into a romantic love that went wrong.

The “Gone” singer also shared that she wanted to sing about all the emotions she felt — and that it is okay to be vulnerable and honest about your feelings.

“[Your] 20s is not an easy time to live through. It’s when you’re very vulnerable and confused, excited and angry about life. That’s what I wanted to sing about,” she continued.

With almost a decade into her music career, the BLACKPINK singer is ready to show the world what she’s capable of through singing.

“I’m ready to be a bit more vulnerable and open and honest in order for people to not misunderstand, and take me for what I am,” she said.

Rosé debuted as a member of BLACKPINK in 2016. In 2021, she released her debut single album titled R, which contained the songs “On The Ground” and “Gone.”

In October, the global K-pop star announced that she would be coming back with a full-length album “rosie,” which will be released on December 6. In the same month, she released the groovy and viral collaborative song “APT,” with Bruno Mars.

“APT” has topped multiple South Korean and global charts. It garnered over 200 million streams on Spotify and over 270 million views on YouTube.
