Barbie Hsu, most renowned for her lead appearance in the 2001 drama Meteor Garden, has passed away.

The Taiwanese host and actress died at the age of 48 because of flu-triggered pneumonia, as confirmed by her family. She caught the flu during the Lunar New Year Holiday in Japan.
“Thank you all for your concern! During the New Year holiday, our whole family traveled to Japan. My dearest and kindest sister, Xiyuan, unfortunately, passed away due to flu-related pneumonia,” said Hsu’s sister, Dee Hsu, in a statement released in an article published by Focus Taiwan.
She added: “I am grateful to have been her sister in this lifetime, to have cared for each other and accompanied each other. I will always be thankful for her and miss her forever.”
Barbie Hsu captured the hearts of worldwide audiences in the hit 2001 Taiwanese drama Meteor Garden alongside Jerry Yan, Vic Chou, Ken Chu, and Vanness Wu.
