Barefoot Theatre Collaborative announced that it is extending Bar Boys: A New Musical!
With all of its remaining shows sold out, the rerun of Bar Boys: A New Musical will be extended for one final week, with six additional shows running from November 7 to 10, 2024, at the Power Mac Center Spotlight Blackbox Theater in Circuit Makati.
Bar Boys is a stage adaptation of Kip Oebanda’s film and follows the lives and friendships of four law school students, Erik, Chris, Torran, and Josh. The demands of law school, the pressures of love and life, and the harsh reality of the world challenge the boys as they journey to become defenders of justice in the Philippines.
Benedix Ramos, Alex Diaz, Jerom Canlas, and Omar Uddin portray the roles of Erik, Chris, Torran, and Josh.
Sheila Francisco plays the formidable Justice Hernandez.
Juliene Mendoza, Lorenz Martinez, and Chino Veguillas play Paping, and they are joined by Topper Fabregas as Atty. Victor Cruz, Nor Domingo as Atty. Maurice Carlson, Carlon Matobato as the Male Professor, Katrine Sunga as the Female Professor, and Gimbey dela Cruz as Boss Mama.
Diego Aranda, Ade Valenzona, Edrei Tan, Jannah Baniasia, Uzziel Delamide, Meg Ruiz, and Jam Binay comprise the ensemble.
Ian Pangilinan serves as the cover for Chris, Khalil Tambio for Erik and Torran, Naths Everett for Justice Hernandez, Shaun Ocrisma for Atty. Victor Cruz, and Veguillas for Atty. Maurice Carlson. Rapah Manalo and Mikaela Regis are the male and female swing.
The musical features a book and lyrics by Pat Valera, who is directing alongside Mikko Angeles. Myke Salomon, who composed the adaptation’s original songs, also serves as the musical director. Jomelle Era oversees the movement direction.
Barefoot Theatre Collaborative’s law school musical recently led the second quarter of 15th Gawad Buhay citations with 18 citations, including Outstanding Musical.
