Street Dancing
These kids dancing on the streets were simply too cute to come un-notice. But of course, crowds favorite were the schools. Why? Their mothers, revered alumni, or anyone else just have some pride to protect (in a good sense). So yes, fun to do kantyawan (teasing) on streets! Few minutes before the street dancing starts, am just sneaking into who knows where, to see those cute faces before the lights dim. Oh yeah right, these kids really made all this effort on dress and props! Goodness, great effort with make-ups and glowing lights.
As the music kick in, then the parade goes… Honestly, I don’t like the music, whoever arranges it need some more coffee. He or she or whoever is should have put in some ethnic music, for a style (just my suggestion). The music is all Latin and Madonna, heya we are ‘pinoy’ (always remember that). There were stations wherein participating groups do perform their routine. So yes, I push myself to the crowd. Force versus force, challenge accepted just to see those dancing lights. FUN!
Dance Show and High-Lights
On the second leg of the competition is a dance show on the town plaza. You know what; I still need to pay 100Php just to get into, with a stage-view. Others contented with the side-view/far-viewing only paid 10Php (I guess). You know am thinking, its one way to separate those who were willing to pay and those who don’t want to pay. Segregating the elites to Muggles? So I need to sneak in the far back, to the Muggles! Can’t it be just first come first served, and hey those people on stage why do they have seats while me, going around and standing. Oh my, my 100php. Huh, money-making. Okay, let’s call it fund raising! Kuripot as ever! And why those who knew the Mayor/politicos got in w/o pay. Am in protest now, hey hey!
So I set up my tripod and DSLR on front stage. It also annoys me that the Mayor, couldn’t step down from that freakin’ second floor of the VIPs to say a decent message. Guys, my honest commentary is always come in frank and style. Goodness! All 13 ‘barangays’ participates, okay great performance but we are waiting for the school category.
LC1 (LC Elem School) and LC2 (Don Felix Robles Elem. School) battle it out, in almost like an LOTR (Lord of the Rings) war. LC2 get the ‘hakot’ award (almost all awards) and LC1 went home crying (am just kidding guys, you serious people there). On the High school category, yey LC Nat’l High School wins it all as its archrival (a.k.a. full fledge enemyJ) is of no show (St. Vincent High School, a private school). St Vincent doesn’t participate at all. Why? The main reason, COST-Cutting. You missed a town’s celebration because of cost-cutting or money-saving? Am sorry, that’s a bad idea. Well, there’s always next year! Cheer up, smile J
