The whole of Baguio City from Mt. Cabuyao viewing deck

It just really feels great to be in Baguio City during the coldest season of the year! Imagine 9 degrees at night??? When Frank and I heard about the extra cool weather in one of our most favorite cities, we just had to do another impromptu trip!
For this special stay, we opted to visit places which common tourists don’t really know of. Instead of the usual destinations and landmarks, we decided to try out new things and visit new places. And besides, travel is all about adventure and discovering new things right?
Baguio City is indeed blessed and abundant not only with natural resources but also great hotels! And for this weekend, we were fortunate enough to discover and experience one of Baguio City‘s relatively new yet very popular hotels… The Azalea Residences.

ย
We arrivedย in Baguio around 10pm that night…. We were tired from the 8-hour bus ride (traffic) and the cold temperature that time (12 degrees) but thanks to their very accommodating staff, they immediately made us feel so at home and made sure we were all warm and comfortable. Seeing our lovely room for the weekend immediately helped us forget our stressful long trip.
our home for the weekend
ย
We love everything about our room! All rooms at The Azalea Residences are fully furnished with your own kitchenette, microwave oven and dining area, making it possible for you and your loved ones to cook meals and dine inside your room.ย They can also provide you with cookwares, plates and silverware at no additional charge!
ย
our cute dining area for two! Ideal for couples!
have intimate dinners right inside your room
ย
Since it was already late, we didn’t want the restaurant staff to work overtime just to wait for us finish our meal so we requested to haveย dinner in our room. Curious on what we had?? Here’s a closer look………….

Shrimp and Cream Cheese Mushroom Caps
– Mushrooms filled with rich creamy shrimp cream cheese with a tower of perfectly fried sweet onion rings! Highly recommended for cheese and mushroom fanatics like us!
Azalea Fish & Chips
– British beer battered dory fillets with chips, tartar sauce, malt vinegar then squeezed with lemon…… good to the last bite!
Classic!
Mongolian Pork Chop
– Char-grilled cured pork loin served with buttered fried potato wedges plus Baguio pechay veggie rolls on sweet, spicy, gingery Mongolian glaze

ย The next morning, we woke up to a perfectly cool sunny day and we’re both excited for the day’s activities with fellow blogger friends!
ย
But before everything else of course, we had to start our day with a power breakfast!
TRADISYON: the hotel’s main dining venue
the place was packed with guests that morning
They offer a nice selection of traditional Filipino favorites in their daily breakfast buffet
Since I wanted something to warm me up that time, I made my own congee from their congee station.
Frank on the other hand, had these…. I really envy his ability to metabolize so fast!ย Hmmp!!
Sotanghon soup
Crispy dried fish
I promised myself not to indulge too much, but I just couldn’t resist!
our food-filled table
After that filling power breakfast, we decided to tour around the hotel….. Let us give you a quick tour shall we?
Main lobby and front office
They also have a bar-lounge at the ground floor
beside the lounge would be their souvenir shop
Another great thing we love about The Azalea Residences is that their staff is so warm and accommodating…. always ready to attend to your needs! They even gave us a quick tour of their various rooms…..
Thank you Dharren and Ms Chris for being our guide =)

Lunch time came so we both marched back to Tradisyon and savored the following…..
Shittake mushroom soup
Korean Half Chicken with Kimchi Rice topped with sunny-side up egg
Szechuan Pacific Basa
Steamed pacific basa fillets with chunky Szechuan meat sauce with Chinese greens, egg fried rice and julienne veggies
After lunch, we met up with fellow bloggersย Sir Vincent Tabor and videographer Aldreen Dumasig of LakbayBaguio.com for the 1st time and offered to show us around places which tourists don’t usually go to.
For our first stop, we went up to Mt. Cabuyao, the 2nd highest peak near Baguio City to witness the 360 view of the whole city of pines. For this trip, we had to rent a taxi (350/hr) to take us there since trips via public transport were seldom. From the hotel, it took us only less than 30mins to reach Mt. Cabuyao…..
ย
When we started walking towards the viewing deck, I noticed I was feeling dizzy due to the high altitude. Good thing my body was able to adjust after a few minutes! phew!
you only have to walk for 2 minutes to reach the deck…
this is what we saw upon arriving at the deck…..
