An Awesome Secret Foodies Tour at Tuscany, McKinley Hill – Tickets Now on Sale!

When in Manila, there are a lot of awesome restaurants that each of us have to try out. Unfortunately with budget constraints, we can’t always visit all these restaurants. It’s risky after all to eat at an expensive place… we never know if it’s really good or not. If only we could hop from one place to another and just take a bite of their best dishes. Well, worry not, ‘coz now you can do JUST THAT!

Megaworld Lifestyle Malls is giving everyone a chance to discover Tuscany’s best kept secrets through a mouth-watering tour open to the public this coming month. “An Awesome Secret Foodies Tour,” which will run on November 30, December 7, 14 and 21 from 2:00pm to 5:00pm, is a degustation tour organized by Megaworld Lifestyle Malls together with Rj Ledesma and Anton Diaz, two of the most influential foodies in the society today. They will personally host and tour participants during the event.

Last November 27, several members of the online media got to experience a preview of what’s to come. I was happy to be one of them. When you buy your ticket, you will also be given a degustation menu. This will give you an idea of the different restaurants you will visit as well as the food that they will offer you. You can go with the tour or restaurant-hop at your own pace.

ย

For starters, you will visit L.E.S. bagels where you will be served bagels with assorted cream cheese filling. What’s L.E.S. anyway? They say bagels originally came from the Jews and when they settled in the U.S., they stayed in the lower east side (LES). Hence, the lower east side is usually where the best bagels could be found. – I totally agree!

Tuscany Mckinley Hill LES1I wanted to try all flavors of cream cheese!

L.E.S. Bagels has the BEST cream cheese ever! Anton Diaz and fellow bloggers can attest to that as they saw my reaction after I took the first bite! It was absolutely delicious! I’ve never tasted cream cheese the way I have at L.E.S. Bagels. I’m already craving for more as I write this. The chef by the way also cooks/ bakes for Nolita in BGC.

An Awesome Secret Foodies Tour: Appetizer 1 by Trattoria Poggio Antico

-Crespella del Poggio Antico – crepe stuffed with ham and cheese and mushroom truffle oil

-Pomodoro e Mozzarella Crostini and assorted pizzetas – mozzarella crostini

ย

With rustic interiors reminiscent of street side cafes in classic Italy, Trattoria Poggio Antico is a one-of-akind restaurant that marries passion for cooking and the love for travel. Filipino-owned, Trattoria was the product of an inspiration which stemmed out from a memorable family vacation to the farms and meadow of Italy.

Trattoria Poggio Antico served us a sampler of 4 different dishes for our appetizer. The owner, Mr. Roland Lorilla has been moving back and forth to the Philippines for the past 25 years. To bring a taste of Italy to the Philippines, he made sure to hire a chef with 15 years of training in the specialty. All the vegetables used in Poggio Antico are organic while the seafood is always fresh.

Trattoria is an Italian word which actually means restaurant, while “Poggio Antico” means old hill. The name is perfect for its location in McKinley Hill. As mentioned earlier, we were served 4 dishes in one sampler platter. We each had our own favorites but all agreed that the oyster was a must try!
