JUST IN: An Aircraft Has Caught Fire in NAIA

Various reports on the Internet are stating that an IAI1124A Westwind with registry RP-C5880 has caught fire at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) while preparing for takeoff.

GMA News Online reported that a source who requested anonymity said the plane was supposed to be delivering medical supplies tonight.

According to recent reports, however, it seems it was a medical evacuation flight bound for Tokyo (via Cebu).

In a Facebook post, Ray Tarol shared a video of what seems to be the airplane that crashed on fire:

In another post, Ray explains that witnesses shared that the plane lost control. The photo below was sent to him from an aviation friend taken by a netizen. He adds that the plane allegedly took off at runway 06-24 and then lost control. It was one of the aircrafts chartered by the Department of Health (DOH).

According to Dick Gordon, fire and medic teams have already been dispatched to NAIA Terminal 2 to respond to the plane crash incident involving Lion Air Flight RPC 5880. 8 passengers consisting of a flight medic, nurse, doctor, three flight crew, one patient, and their companion were on board.

Latest reports say that no one onboard survived the crash.
