Ai-Ai Delas Alas and Gerald Sibayan have parted ways. The actress opened up about their split in an interview on “Fast Talk With Boy Abunda.” She got emotional as she revealed that they had broken up on October 14.
“Hiwalay na kami. Last month pa. Basta hindi ko makakalimutan. October 14, nag-chat siya, madaling araw sa Pilipinas. Yun nga. Sinabi niya na gusto niya magkaanak at hindi na siya happy (We’ve been separated since last month. I can’t forget it. He messaged me on October 14, it was midnight in the Philippines. He told me that he wanted to have a baby and he’s not happy),” she said.

Ai-Ai expressed that she was confused and shocked by that time, “Medyo confused ako and shocked, and bakit ngayon? Bakit ngayong oras na to? Sana hinintay mo man lang ako makauwi sa Amerika (I was a bit confused and shocked. Why did he break up with me at this hour? I hope you at least waited for me to return to America).”
According to her, they haven’t communicated since October, and Gerald’s decision to end their marriage was “definitive.”
The “Ang Tanging Ina” star also tearfully disclosed that they tried to conceive through in vitro fertilization (IVF) and had three embryos. Unfortunately, the procedure was unsuccessful, which she said deeply “hurt” Gerald.
“Alam naman niya na bago pa niya ako pakasalan na hindi na ako magkakaanak, but I really tried my best kasi meron kami in vitro kahit mahina yung eggs ko (He already knew before he married me that I would never have children, but I really tried my best because we had in vitro even though my eggs are weak),” she continued.
“Sinabi ko sa kanya, kapag nagkapera kami, isu-surprise ko sana siya na ilalagay ko yung baby para magkaroon kami ng baby. Siguro yun yung nag-trigger sa kaniya na ayaw niya ng surprise na bibigyan ko siya ng baby (I told him, when we get money, I would surprise him by putting the baby so that we can have a baby. Maybe that’s what triggered him that he didn’t want a surprise that I would give him a baby).”
When asked if there was a third party involved, Ai-Ai admitted that she had a gut feeling that there was.
“Bilang asawa, ako ramdam ko, meron. Ramdam ko (As a wife, I can feel, there is),” she noted, revealing that Gerald cheated on her in 2019.
The Comedy Queen also addressed the rumors that she’ll revoke Gerald’s green card in the U.S., clarifying that she has no intention to do so, as he is still her husband.
“Parang help ko na yun sa kanya para magkaroon siya ng legal status sa Amerika (It’s like my way of helping him, so that he can have a legal status in America),” she added.
The actress then shared a message to Gerald, wishing him happiness and to have a healthy child.
“Yung hinihiling mong anak, sana magkaroon ka ng healthy child. I wish you well kasi sa sampung taong pinagsamahan natin, in fairness naman to you, naging good husband ka naman. Siguro ganun talaga ang buhay. Basta sana maging masaya ka na lang (The child you are asking for, I hope you have a healthy child. I wish you well because in the ten years we have been together, in fairness to you, you have been a good husband. Maybe that’s how life really is. I just hope you’ll be happy),” she reiterated.
Ai-Ai and Gerald tied the knot in 2017 after dating for three years. They renewed their vows in 2022 in Las Vegas.
