Mercy Sunot, one of the vocalists of Aegis, has passed away.
On November 18, the OPM rock band confirmed her passing in a Facebook post, emphasizing she bravely fought her battle with cancer.
“It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of Mercy, one of the beloved vocalists of AEGIS Band. She bravely fought her battle with cancer but has now found peace and rest,” the post read.
Aegis also noted how Mercy’s voice brought comfort, joy, and strength to many people.
“Mercy’s voice wasn’t just a part of AEGIS—it was a voice that brought comfort, joy, and strength to so many. She has touched countless lives, inspiring fans and lifting spirits with every song she sang,” they continued.
The band honored her legacy and expressed heartfelt gratitude for her music and the memories they shared.
“Her passion, warmth, and unforgettable presence on stage will forever be cherished in our hearts. Let us come together to celebrate the incredible life she lived and the legacy she leaves behind,” Aegis wrote.
“Mercy, thank you for the music, the love, and the memories. You will be deeply missed.”
Over the weekend, Mercy took to social media to ask for prayers after she underwent lung surgery.
“Pag-pray niyo ako guys, please. Pag-pray niyo ako na matatapos na tong pagsubok na to (Pray for me guys, please. Pray for me that this suffering will end),” she said in the video.

Aegis is known for their classic 90s hits “Halik,” “Luha,” “Sinta,” “Sayang na Sayang,” and “Basang-basa sa Ulan.” The band includes Mercy’s siblings, Juliet and Ken Sunot.
