Ariana Grande Reveals Why She Used Her Birth Name in “Wicked” Credits

Ariana Grande has decided to use her birth name in the credits of her upcoming film, “Wicked,” surprising fans and sparking curiosity. ICYDK, her real name is Ariana Grande-Butera.

In an interview with Justin Hill for “The Streaming Service,” the singer-actress revealed the sentimental reason why she used her birth name in the credits.

“I just feel like this experience was such a homecoming for me. I feel like I came home to myself in a lot of ways, through what I learned from Glinda, from Elphaba,” she explained.

Recounting her 10-year-old self watching the show, Ariana emphasized that it was a nod to her younger self.

“And, you know, that was my name when I went to see the show when I was 10 years old. And it felt like a really lovely way of honoring that. It felt really full circle,” she added.

“Wicked” is the adaptation of the Broadway musical of the same title, starring Ariana as Glinda and Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba. The film follows the story of Glinda and Elphaba, two students at Shiz University in the Land of Oz, who form a deep bond.

It is set to premiere in Philippines cinemas on November 20.
