Nobuyo Oyama, Voice of Doraemon, Passes Away

Nobuyo Oyama, the voice actress behind the well-loved anime character “Doraemon,” has passed away. She was 90 years old.

According to reports, her agency confirmed that she died on September 29 due to old age. She bravely battled colorectal cancer and a stroke. In 2015, her husband Keisuke Sagawa disclosed that she had been diagnosed with dementia.

She lent her voice to the iconic cat robot character of the famous Japanese anime series “Doraemon” from 1979 to 2005. Her exceptional voice and talent were even praised by the series’ original creator Fujiko F. Fujio.

Oyama is also an actress, singer,ย screenwriter,ย and essayist. She voicedย Monokuma, the main villain from theย video game series, “Danganronpa” from 2010 to 2016 as well as “Danganronpa: The Animation.”
