San Francisco-based Filipina-American fashion content creator, Johanna Dy, is quietly making waves. Starting her journey as the founder of Kolorete Cosmetics, Johanna’s love for fashion soon took center stage, leading her to become a fierce advocate for genuine representation and inclusivity in the industry.

“I’m not a celebrity back home,” Johanna says with a warm smile, “but that’s exactly why I want to take up space. It’s important for Filipinas like me to be visible and show the world that we belong in these conversations too.”
Carving out her own path in the U.S., Johanna is on a mission to inspire young girls—especially those from underrepresented communities—to dream big and see themselves reflected in the fashion world. While progress has been made, she believes there’s still so much work to be done for broader representation, particularly in the U.S. and globally. “It’s not just about fashion capitals acknowledging us,” she emphasizes. “It’s about being seen and celebrated for who we are and the unique flair we bring to fashion.”

This year, Johanna made her mark at New York Fashion Week, proudly embracing her Filipino roots by wearing exclusively Filipino-designed outfits from local brands like Urban Haul PH and designers such as Jilliane Santos from Plngke and Veejay Floresca. “NYFW wasn’t just about being in the big city,” she reflects. “It was about celebrating where I come from and showcasing the incredible talent of Filipino designers to the world.”
As her platform grows, Johanna remains focused on empowering more women to embrace their unique beauty, confidently pursue their dreams, and claim their space in the fashion industry.
