Has Apollo Quiboloy been arrested?
UPDATE: After the initial posting of this article, Apollo Quiboloy’s lawyer, Ferdinand Topacio, has clarified that “Pastor Apollo C. Quiboloy voluntarily surrendered to the Armed Forces of the Philippines, specifically the Intelligence Service of the Armed Forces, or ISAFP.”
A few hours prior to this statement, DILG Chief Benhur Abalos Jr. announced the arrest of Apollo Quiboloy in a couple of Facebook posts:
Apollo Quiboloy Arrested?
Abalos’ posts merely provided the initial allegations of Quiboloy’s arrest, sparking widespread interest and speculation about the circumstances surrounding it.
Either way, this marks a significant development in a series of scandals involving the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KJC). Quiboloy was previously indicted in the U.S. for child abuse and sex trafficking of girls aged 12 to 25 years old.
Quiboloy, the founder and leader of the KJC, has generally been a polarizing figure in the Philippines for years. His teachings, which often blend elements of Christianity with his own personal interpretations, have drawn both fervent followers and harsh critics. However, the recent allegations of human trafficking and abuse have intensified scrutiny of his organization.
As details of Apollo Quiboloy’s case emerge, it remains to be seen how his followers will react. The arrest also raises questions about the future of the organization, which has been a major player in Philippine religious life for decades.
This is a developing story. More information will be released as it becomes available.
