CIMB Bank Philippines concluded its search for extraordinary Filipinos with the Pinoy Mavericks Awards 2024. Held at the Dusit Thani Hotel in Makati, the awards night celebrated individuals who have overcome adversity to create positive change.
From a pool of ten inspiring nominees, Marlon Fuentes, Phoebe Fructuoso, and Jerico Ramota emerged as the inaugural Pinoy Mavericks. Each winner demonstrated exceptional courage, resilience, and perseverance in the face of challenges.
Marlon Fuentes, a ride-hailing driver living with Tourette Syndrome, exemplifies unwavering determination. Despite facing physical and societal hurdles, he remains committed to providing for his family. His inspiring story highlights the power of the human spirit in overcoming adversity. Phoebe Fructuoso, a survivor of sexual violence, has transformed her pain into purpose. By sharing her story, she empowers other victims and raises awareness about rape culture. Her bravery and advocacy make her a true inspiration. Jerico Ramota, a selfless community leader, embodies the spirit of bayanihan. Through his “Rolling Bayanihan” initiative, he has made a significant impact on the lives of many. His dedication to helping others is a testament to the Filipino value of compassion.
The three winners each received a P200,000 grand prize, with half donated to their chosen charities: Bahay Kalinga, PAVE, and Manila Boys Town, respectively. Additionally, three runners-up – April Perreras, MK Bertulfo, and Erline Maniquis – were recognized for their outstanding contributions with P50,000 each.
