Derek Ramsay revealed to the press during the media conference of his Metro Manila Film Festival 2023 entry “Kampon” last December 11, 2023, that he and his wife Ellen Adarna recently lost a baby through a miscarriage.
The 47-year-old actor shared that he and Ellen first discovered that they were expecting while vacationing in Spain.
“Tumatanda na tayo so akala ko baog ako. So noong nasa Spain kami, nalaman namin na preggy si Ellen, but unfortunately we lost the baby [I’m getting old so I thought I was already infertile. So when we were in Spain, we found out that Ellen was pregnant, but unfortunately we lost the baby],” he was quoted saying.
However, he focused on the positives of this unfortunate situation and assured everyone that “Ellen is okay.”
“At least nalaman namin na hindi kami baog. First attempt pa lamang namin na gumawa ng baby. [At least we confirmed that I wasn’t infertile. It was just our first attempt at making a baby.] Ellen is okay. We will try next year,” he said.
It was in June this year when Ellen revealed that she and Derek are trying for a baby when she announced on her Instagram stories that she quit smoking after 17 years. “Goodbye, my friend. Seventeen years of smoking. I’m gonna break up with you now. Today. Goodbye. Goodbye. I’m heartbroken. I’m not pregnant. I’m preparing my body to get pregnant,” she wrote at the time.
Both Ellen and Derek have children from previous relationships.
