Jeric Raval reveals in an interview on “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda” which aired on Wednesday, August 23, that he once asked his daughter AJ Raval’s boyfriend, Aljur Abrenica, to eventually marry her when the right time comes.
According to the actor, he had a conversation with Aljur to ensure that Aljur was already separated from his former wife, Kylie Padilla, before getting into a relationship with AJ.
“Nung una, syempre kinakausap ko si Aljur dahil ‘yung anak ko bata lang. Sabi ko lang kay Aljur, ‘Ikaw ba ay hiwalay?’ [Sabi niya], ‘Opo,’” Jeric recounted.
Jeric then reminded Aljur of his age gap with AJ and that Jeric didn’t want to come off as having enabled their relationship, considering that he is close with Aljur’s former father-in-law, Robin Padilla.
“‘Alam mo, tatlong bagay lang ang ipapakiusap ko sa’yo,’” Jeric continued. “Una, ‘yung anak ko ay bata pa. Pangalawa, ‘yung biyenan mo ay kaibigan ko. E ano kayang sasabihin ko sa biyenan mo ‘pag nagkita kami? Baka sabihin kinukunsinti ko kayo.’”
“Sabi ko, ‘Iayos mo muna ‘yung sarili mo, hijo. Wala naman akong problema sa inyo dahil buhay niyo ‘yan e. Pagdating sa buhay pag-ibig ng anak ko, hindi ko na saklaw ‘yon,’” he added.
Jeric’s final plea to Aljur was for him to marry AJ once everything has been settled. “Pangatlo, ang sabi ko sa kanya, ‘Ang anak ko, gusto ko pakasalan mo. Basta ‘pag ayos ka na, wala ka nang problema, pakasalan mo ‘yung anak ko.’”

AJ and Aljur confirmed that they were exclusively in a relationship in February of this year. AJ first admitted that Aljur was courting her in October 2021 which prompted netizens to accuse her of being the cause of Aljur’s split with Kylie. Kylie, however, cleared AJ’s name and said that she was not the alleged third party who broke their marriage. Kylie also stated on Twitter at the time that Aljur is free to see other women now.
