It’s a new year and we’ve got a lot of goals we are set on achieving—whether it’s to finally travel out of the country, save up for a new house, or just improve your financial situation in general.
Now is the perfect time to create a solid plan to ensure you’re on the right track with your short-term and long-term financial goals for 2023.

Here are a few easy things you can do:
1. Reexamine your monthly budget
Did you end up spending way more than you should’ve over the holidays? Or maybe you just got a raise? A great first step to actually improving your financial situation is to reassess how much money is coming in and where it is going. Be stricter with yourself on your expenses, taking into account whatever big purchase or debt you need to pay off in the coming year so that you don’t end up going off-course with your budget.
2. Always have an emergency fund
It pays to be prepared for emergency situations such as a sudden illness or home repair. A good rule of thumb is to have at least 10% of your monthly income saved in an emergency fund that you will leave completely untouched until an unforeseen circumstance occurs.
3. Sell items in your house that you don’t use or need anymore
One fast and easy way to earn more money is to sell the things you have that you don’t need or use anymore. There are plenty of online marketplaces to do this and it also promotes a green, circular economy by encouraging other people to buy pre-loved goods. So you’re not only earning additional income but you’re also doing your part to help the environment!
4. Make money from your passions
You’ll be surprised by how much people are willing to support their friends who make a living out of something they’re passionate on. Don’t let fear hold you back from turning a simple hobby into a business idea that you can do outside of your day job! After all, if you want to find an additional source of income, it might as well be something that you love doing.
5. Become a forex trader
One of the best ways to improve your finances is through investing, and forex trading has definitely helped a lot of Filipinos become much more financially stable.
You’ve likely heard about forex trading before from friends, from news sites, or while researching on your own for new investment opportunities. It’s the buying, selling, and exchanging of national currencies, offering the most liquidity while requiring less capital and guaranteeing several opportunities to make profits.

Forex trading is very beginner-friendly. It’s an investment that doesn’t require such a high capital (you can invest for as low as PHP 5,000 and still make a profit) and it’s something you can do in the comfort of your home and in your spare time.
Whether it’s at the start of your day before work, during your afternoon breaks, or even at night before you sleep, forex trading won’t take a huge amount of your time to accomplish. Plus, you get to see results with just a snap of your finger!
