Our very own Janine Gutierrez just bagged the award for Rising Star in the New York Asian Film Festival (NYAFF) for her performance in JP Habac’s “Dito At Doon” as first announced by the production house TBA Studios.
Janine, in reaction to the news, quote retweeted the post to express her gratitude to the international festival.
“Thank you to my TBA family – at sa lahat ng Len na patuloy na lumalaban!! (and to every Len who continues to fight!)” she wrote. “Thank you [NYAFF]!! [This is a] dream come true.”

The NYAFF then made the news official on their own Twitter account. “We are thrilled to present [Janine Gutierrez] with the Rising Star Award this year,” they said.
“So honored! Thank you NYAFF!” Janine responded. “Second year to have a film part of your festival and I was so sad that for the second time, we’re still unable to attend. But now I’m just filled with gratitude. Thank you for supporting Filipino films and creatives.”

“Dito at Doon” is Janine’s second film to premiere at the festival, the first one being “Babae at Baril” last August 2020. “Dito at Doon,” which also stars JC Santos, Yesh Burce, and Victor Anastacio, will be shown at the SVA Theatre in New York on August 21, and be virtually available from August 22 to 27 via the film festival’s website.
The film, set in the pandemic, follows unlikely pair Len (Gutierrez) and Cabs (Santos) who attempt to pursue a romance through video calls and phone messages while also coping with the effects of a global health crisis and its resulting lockdowns.
It will also premiere on Netflix on September 2.
