Thanks to a citizen who shared Nanay Luisa’s handicraft work on Facebook, the senior citizen has garnered not only the attention of Pinoy netizens but business as well.
Jose Aran shared the following post on his Facebook page last January 25th:
Baka mapadaan kayo sa may ilalim ng LRT sa may sidewalk along old GSIS building papuntang SM Manila.
Bili na kayo kay Nanay ng mga crocheted wallet, lagayan ng water at etc…
P150 tong lagayan ng water(bottle not included) medyo pricey pero effort naman sa pag crochet yan for sure.
She’s legit happy! Ako daw buena mano nya, free repair pag may sira balik lang daw sa kanya.
The lady, whose name is Luisa, sells her handmade crochet items under the LRT. Her usual spot is at a sidewalk along the old GSIS building in Manila, according to Jose. Nanay Luisa makes crocheted wallets, tumbler holders, and more. The tumbler holders are priced at P150 each. Nanay Luisa even offers free repair of damaged items, according to Jose’s post.
Netizens quickly took notice of Nanay Luisa’s work. As of writing, the post has garnered 54k reactions, 57k shares.

TV Host and Content Creator Hershey Neri posted on Instagram a picture of her pink crochet tumbler holder from Nanay Luisa, sharing how she got a piece. She wrote, “I really wanted to support her, but I couldn’t go to Manila ? Thankfully, I met someone in a Facebook group called ‘Quarantine Tributes,’ who said they were going to Manila that day and could ‘pasabuy’ with them!”
Neri also shared that a group of people organized a fundraiser for Nanay Luisa. “Thank you for organizing this fundraising for Lola and also for helping us reach out to her. You have such a beautiful heart!” She wrote, addressing another Instagram user @ajcondaaa. “For those interested in buying Lola’s crochet pieces, Nanay is usually along the sidewalk to SM Manila from 1-5 PM.”
