The “Rocko’s Modern Life” Movie Will Have the Original Cast!

There's Going to be a Rocko's Modern Life Movie

Last year, we announced that ’90s Nickelodeon cartoon Rocko’s Modern Lifeย is getting the movie treatment, along with other Nick classicsย Hey Arnold!,ย Legends of the Hidden Temple, and Invader Zim. We’re excited for all four films, but we’re looking forward to the Rocko’sย adaptation the most because of its unusual sense of humor.

Recently, it was announced that the original voice cast of the series that aired from 1993 to 1996 will be returning for the TV movie, which will be airing in 2018. The actors returning for the role are Carlos Alazraqui (who voiced Rocko, Spunky, and Leon), Tom Kenny (who voiced Heffer, Chuck, and Really Really Big Man), Mr. Lawrence (who voiced Filburt Turtle), Charlie Adler (who voiced Ed and Bev Bighead, Mr. Dupette, Grandpa Wolfe, and Mrs. Fathead), Linda Wallem ย (who voiced Aunt Gretchen and Dr. Hutchinson), Jill Talley (who voiced Nosey), and Joe Murray (who voiced Ralph).

Show creator Joe Murray will return as the executive producer and director of the TV movie.

Rocko’s Modern Lifeย follows the life of Rocko, a wallaby who works in a comic store in a fictional town called O-Town. There, he interacts with his boss Mr. Smitty, his neighbors the Bigheads, and his friends Heffer Wolfe, Filburt, and his dog Spunky.

It became a hit because of its adult humor featuring innuendos and double entendres. It was also critically praised, with IGN calling it a โ€œsophisticated, intelligent brand of childrenโ€™s programming.โ€ When the show was cancelled, many of the staff helped buildย SpongeBob SquarePants.

The TV movie will reportedly bring the characters back to Earth after “being lost in outer space since 1996. Rocko has trouble accepting this 21stย century modern life, while Heffer and Filburt embrace every aspect of new technology, social media and the endless diversity of food trucks. Rocko wholeheartedly believes that his nostalgia for the past can save him from the tortures of the modern world.”
