Does this look like a dream or what?
A forecast by the Japan Meteorological Corporation reportedly predicted a March 22 kick-off for the first sightings of cherry blossoms in Tokyo, but the trees in Kawazu, a town three hours away from the bustling capital, run on their own schedule.
So they went ahead and bloomed first.
Not that anyone’s complaining though! The cherry blossom trees of Kawazu, known as the Kawazu-zakura, is a breed that does indeed blossom ahead all the other kinds. The breeds of cherry blossom trees in Japan vary, thus will all bloom on different times, too. Cherry blossoms only bloom for two weeks, which is why this season is quite a special time in Japan and attracts tourists from all around the globe.
That sounds like an adventure!ย If you have the time (and money) to spare, you can definitely go on a cherry blossom adventure, hopping from one city to the next, catching the trees as they turn fluffy and pink and absolutely beautiful.
Check out these photos from Kawazu, which looks like a dreamy wonderland.
