Manila has a way of surprising me. Aside from its beautiful history, it is the home of the most hospitable people. That is one of the reasons whyย accommodations in the area are always a good idea and the hospitality industry is booming.
La Scala in Malate is known for the cafe where you can eat, drink and be merry. But they recently opened La Scala Residences where travelers and staycationers can kick back and relax amidst the hustle and bustle of Manila.
The rooms are simple, spacious and relaxing. Aside from the comforter, they also have comfy blankets which is a plus for me because I get really cold easily.
ย
There is a dresser, entertainment set, personal fridge, a queen bed and a single bed.
What I loved most about the room is the working area which is a primary thing I look for when booking hotels. Another plus is the La Scala’s fibr internet connection so you wouldn’t worry about working or communicating with friends and family during your stay.
At the Cafe, you will see different memorabilias and vintage items that the owner had collected through the years.ย
Though I expected that the items wouldn’t be in mint condition or working, the owner said that everything are in working condition including a vintage jukebox and record player.ย
Mixed with the vintage pieces are some cool modern art that
The cafe is quite spacious and it has different private rooms that you can rent out for meetings, get-togethers or even for KTV.
You will not be disappointed with La Scala’s food and you will always come back for more.
One of the specialty dishes of La Scala is their Paella which is served in a small skillet. This takes a little while to prepare so make sure you call ahead if you want to try it out. It is filled with chorizo, clams, chicken, shrimp and all the tasty treats you want to have in your paella.
Another one of the best-sellers is the Gambas. Soaked in garlic, butter and spices that you may want to order extra rice… or two!
Last but definitely not the least is the Beef Salpiaco which is flavorful, tender and cooked just the way I like it- medium rare. It is the perfect companion of someย steaming hot rice.
The next time you are in Manila, don’t forget to drop by La Scala for their delectable food. You can also stay at La Scala Residences for a staycation.
