Itโs very rare for me to find Halloween costumes super cool nowadays, but when my aunt Joy Ampil-Galang posted photos of her familyโs Star Wars costumes for Halloween this year, I actually did a standing ovation in my head, put my phone down and applauded the photos. A FOR EFFORT!!!
Naturally, I asked her and her husband Neil Galang a few more questions about the costumes because, well, most of my family members arenโt Star Wars fans and getting them all to dress as anything as a family for Halloween would never, ever happen. Heck, even my five-year-old refuses to tandem up with me sometimes. Haha huhu.
Neil shares that they were inspired by comic con cosplayers and then decided to go full on with their Halloween costumes. He adds that the costumes are 60% bought and 40% DIY, and Joy shares that it took them a few months to get everything done.
DIY Belt
โWicketโs costume was fun to build,โ shares Joy. Neil explains, โWe got an oatmeal bear and made a hood from rags that attaches with Velcro, while Joy added charms.
โ Cute!!!
Their daughter Nina likes Queen Amidala, but isnโt big on dressing in gowns and princess-type outfits, so she went as Padme!
Their daughter Kobi is an arte version of Boba Fett, so her hair highlights and makeup reflected his colors.
And their piece de resistance? Custom-built lightsabers from Ultrasabers.com. I WANT!!!
โThe whole family did their share and it definitely bonded all of us,โ says Joy. All of the costumes were very well done โ donโt you think? Iโm gonna go ahead and put this on my โFuture Family Goals Listโ!!!
Love this anj!!!! Xxx
